1 Outlook of G7 Ministerial Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Nikko, Tochigi
This year, Japan holds the G7 presidency and the G7 Ministerial Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment will be held in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, in June
At the Meeting, representatives of G7 countries, the EU, and related organizations will gather to discuss various issues related to gender equality and women‘s empowerment which the international community faces and share measures taken by each country.

The design of the logo is based on that of the G7 Hiroshima Summit to ensure uniformity. The colors of the letters of the host city are the same as those used in the prefectural and municipal emblems of Tochigi Prefecture and Nikko City. In addition, the broad dwarf day lily (Nikko Kisuge), which is the city flower of Nikko City and will be in bloom during the period of the Ministerial Meeting (late June), is used.
The language of flowers of the broad dwarf day lily are "A person at ease" and "Renew every day," which expresses the desire for the success of the Meeting and the hospitality of Nikko City.
2 Introduction of Host City
Tochigi Prefecture located in the northern part of the Kanto region is surrounded by rich nature. There are Mt. Shirane and Mt. Nantai in the northwest, Mt. Chausu and Mt. Asahi in the northeast, and flat land spreading in the central and southern areas. Additionally, it is famous for the largest production of strawberries in Japan for continuously 54 years, with the rise agriculture and manufacturing.
Nikko City, where the Ministerial Meeting will be held, is located in the northwest and occupies around 1/4 areas of the prefecture. There is beautiful nature such as Nikko National Park, one of the first national parks in Japan, and Oku-Nikko, a registered wetland under the Ramsar Convention. Furthermore, it is known as an international tourist city with many famous hot spring resorts, such as Kinugawa Onsen and Yunishigawa Onsen, and many historical and cultural heritage sites including the World Heritage Sites of "Shrines and temples of Nikko," "Nikko Suginamiki Kaido (Nikko Cedar Avenue)" and "Ashio Copper Mine."
